MCKINSEY
FINANCE | UIUX DESIGN + APP DESIGN | 2017
McKinsey approached us to develop an iPad application for Mingshen Bank in China that helps upper division to prioritize the development capabilities needed for a successful digital transformation.
CHALLENGE
China Minsheng Bank, founded on January 12, 1996, in Beijing, is the first bank in China to be owned mostly by non-government enterprises. As their business is growing, people from upper division realized a digital decision making tool is necessary to make the entire financial decision process efficiently. The biggest challenge in this project is to transform comprehensive data into easy to understand infographics that assists stakeholders to analyze profits and make important decisions.
RESEARCH DISCOVERY
To start, my UX partner and I met with McKinsey team to understand major factors that will affect financial decisions for stakeholders. Moreover, we went through the process of decision making to get a better understanding of the entire experience. In terms of information display, I did a series of graph chart study. This allowed me to choose the best graph design for data visualization.
OUTCOME
Because it is a iPad application, the amount of information display on the screen is limited. During design explorations, I tried as many ways as possible in terms of colors, font size, or info-graphic to make the information not chaos and easy to understand. At the end, I compiled 6 types of graphs for this tool such as tree map, bubble chart, bar chart, radar chart, heat map, and histogram.
