FIND&SAVE

Find and Save is an advertising company formed by 5 of the biggest U.S newspapers. The company provides shoppers to browse all the sales and deals in their local area online, from retailers such as Nordstroms,  Macy’s, Target, Walmart, Safeway, Walgreens, Dick’s Sporting Goods, HomeDepot, Staples and Best Buy.

MY ROLE

As the UI designer in this project, I worked closely with UI/UX lead through a human-centred process of research and discovery, strategy, business alignment, user interface and interaction design, usability testing, and development.

# MEGA MENU DESIGN

The website is consists of more than 400+ brands deals, our goal is to design a better user centered  mega menu for shoppers to find products. Before moving into high-fidelity design and development, I performed usability testing on the proposed direction for the browsing experience to validate design and content and decisions, identify challenges, and iterate based on real user feedback.

APPROACH 1
The first mock-up shows the entire store list for shoppers. It allows users to easily find stores under different categories.

APPROACH 2
Second approach solved the problem of overwhelming information that the first approach has. With the mindset of less is more  and user center, second mock-up help users to only focus on the information that they are interested in.
FINAL DESIGN

Throughout the website, the mega menu allows users to easily and intuitively find the information they need. People usually shop with specific goals, so the store type section helps them navigate efficiently.  Still there would be a chance that people want to see the entire store list, hence,  there is a see all store option at the top menu. We keep "See all stores" at top of the menu for people who want to see brands all in one place. Nonetheless, I also considered marketing strategy by adding an advertising section to reveal store promotions.

# PRODUCT PAGE

One of the most important page of an online shopping website is the produce page, and loading all contents on a new page would be time consuming. To optimize this problem, we created a pop up product page for shoppers to skim through product summary while adding share option for shoppers to share with friends via email, phone, or even print out from a printer.  In the end, the user experience we designed for the mobile website was seamless and ensured that users were able to find what they need efficiently.
